This morning I believe I may have died and gone to heaven. After a near 3 year wait, I entered our newly rebuilt Whole Foods Market. Oh My … It was far more impressive than I could have ever imagined. It was an island of serenity, sunlight and whole food goodness. This new edition of heaven on earth made me question if our previous edition was a bit what purgatory would resemble. Oh so close… but YET SO FAR?!
I entered on the lower level where the morning rays of sunshine beamed down through the multi-level floor-to-ceiling walls of window. I was walking into the light… Just then my eyes refocused and I saw a sight not typical in our local grocery markets. A sign reading BEER THIS WAY! “Ok… I will follow!” I chanted in my head. The perfectly aligned bottles of every color of the rainbow were displayed beautifully by region of origin, glistening in the brilliant sun.
Behind me was a fanciful bar and tavern where Happy Hour, Brunch and Dinner menus were highlighted on the walls. Am I in a different state I kept thinking? You know that feeling when you go on holidays and inevitably find yourself stopping at the local market for whatever you may have needed? It feels oh so familiar, but yet so incredibly foreign.
I pressed on upwards and landed at the newly established Juice Bar and Cafe. This place JUST KEPT GETTING BETTER! I was compelled to give a fresh pressed juice a swirl and took the Green Goodness which is a refreshing concoction of Pear, Cucumber, Pineapple, Kale, Spinach, and Parsley. It was indeed green goodness, it was delicious. As I awaited my juice, I watched orders of Espresso Tonics and Acai Smoothie Bowls be received… I really don’t think I’ll ever need to leave this place.
The shelves were fully stocked and perfectly faced. I found myself mesmerized by the refrigerated pepper display in produce and the fresh pasta case in the cheese and international section quite noteworthy as well. Who doesn’t love that spicey scale indicator with OCD’esque color cubby assorted pepper sections?!?
I must admit that I saw a manager from a competing major grocer swish through with an inevitable look of distress about him. Poor guy…. I’m sorry to say, but you might as well give it up. It took us THREE years to get here.
Don’t get my enthusiasm twisted. My husband has more of love-hate relationship with the Whole Foods frenzy than I do. But I did find a fully stocked case of his latest fave grocery find… Halo Top Creamery Ice cream. I think I will devote an entirely unique post on this, but I believe I could lure the hubs in to check out this new neighborly hot spot. Afterall, it is the Doorbuster Deal!!!
